Cell phone technologoy and coverage
The full RSA GSM network servicing MTN, Vodacom and Cell C is used to send information from the units to the SMS Fleet server via GPRS and the sim card in the unit. This ensures virtually uninterrupted communication within the system as well as nationwide coverage.
SMS:
All alerts are sent to users via SMS. This includes instances where a vehicle moves while the alarm is activated, when “No GO” or Geo Fenced” areas are breached and the emergency help function is activated. All of these SMS messages are sent to three different cell phone numbers, specified during the setup process, simultaneously.
Use your own Cell Phone
Instead of using a computer connected to the internet, one may use the cell phone to view a vehicle’s location, coordinates, speed and a street map display of the location of the vehicle on the cell phone screen. (Cell phone needs to be WAP enabled)
USSD function is available for cell phones not WAP enabled to obtain the speed and coordinates without the map display. All these functions are menu driven and easy to use. It is further possible to activate or deactivate the invisible alarm, use your logbook to add fuel or other expenses and send a help message to your specified numbers.
Your cell phone first needs to be set up by saving the numbers to be used as contacts in your phone and you need to setup the emergency numbers on your My Tracer site.

After doing this you are ready to use the cell phone and the service will be available. All you need to do is to dial the number and follow the instructions on your cell phone screen. It is all menus driven.

Create these new contacts under contacts in the address book of your cell phone.
